Suction Unit Problem Solving - Can You Fix it Yourself?

  1. Remove all accessories
  2. Turn adjustment knob/dial to maximum
  3. Place thumb over inlet on suction unit
  4. Switch on device
    • DeVilbiss 7305P/7314P/7325 units should reach 550+mmhg
    • CAMI AS100 unit should reach 600+mmhg
    • CAMI AS36 BR unit should reach 563+mmhg
    • CAMI New Hospivac 400 unit should reach 675+mmhg

If the unit does reach the required mmhg level, then there is a problem with the accessories. Replace 1 item at a time and repeat points 2-4 above until you have located the part that is causing the problem. Replace the dysfunctional part/s.

Other tips…

  1. Make sure the filter is dry and not damp or wet. If in doubt, change it.
  2. If the filter is present and the machine is trying to vacuum, but there is no suction after the filter then the filter is contaminated. Replace and try again.

If you find that the suction unit does not reach the required mmhg level with everything removed, then something in the unit is causing a problem. It will need to be repaired professionally. See below.
